Keep on praying.

Romans 12:12 – ‘Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying’

A few questions to start you off with this week:

- What do I do in times of trouble?

- What’s the first thing I turn to?

In times of trouble, it is never easy to think of allowing God to handle it. It’s our very humanly nature to turn to things that we can hear, see or touch. As humans we want to be in control of our own issues and problems since as it’s a physical thing we can see; we are adamant on believing it’s able to be fixed by us. Some things can be fixed by humans / us. For example: let’s say the car tyre is punctured – this can be easily fixed due to mechanics or a tyre shop that has facilities to change the tyre. Things like this can be easily fixed by humans but when there is a situation where no matter how hard we try to fix; why is it not getting fixed. Our hearts become sombre, our mind isn’t able to process things properly, we go into a depressive state so why is it that everything we do, nothing is working in our willpower.

That’s when you turn to this verse. The beauty of this verse lies beyond a few words but holds so much power. Let’s re-read this verse: ‘Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble and keep on praying.’ The simplicity of this verse encourages us to keep on praying no matter what trouble we may face. In times of troubles – we should rejoice in the confident hope that whatever wills in Jesus Christ, will always forever prevail. You cannot stop his plan – no matter how much you may be willing to be in control, the father in heaven, the one who created the nation is able to do what is best for each and every one of us. In trouble you should look up to Jesus – give your soul whole heartedly to him and believe that Jesus is able to make our problems be a lesson for us or an understanding that we can get through life by Jesus Christ beside us.

The end of this verse ‘keep on praying’ is the resolution and key to life always. The more time you spend with God, as you live life alongside the word of God and talk to God, you will find your peace and hope within him. Prayer is powerful! You can pray anywhere, on the way to work , to school , on your knees – prayer can be done anywhere but genuinely believe that Jesus will make the impossible , possible when you are struggling , going through problems. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life – no one can give you the unconditional love and strength other than Jesus. Without him there is a no way out in your difficult situations.

I end with a question – Will you change anything with how you perceive your problems and change to give it to God?
